Charcuterie and Serving

Many of these boards are made from material salvaged from within the city. 

The black boards are ‘ebonized’ using a simple non toxic, food safe solution made by resting raw steel in vinegar; the colour comes from within the wood – they are not dyed or stained. This solution is applied to the surface and reacts with the wood’s own tannins, which turn a deep indigo-black. The colour will not fade or bleed. 

All of the boards are finished with a food safe wood conditioner. These boards, and the conditioner, are available at Second Nature Home Boutique in East Vancouver. We plan to offer them online sometime soon as well.
